Practical questions, plain answers.
If your question isn’t here, call (860) 733-3280. That’s the fastest way to a real answer.
How do I start?
Call (860) 733-3280. You’ll talk to a person, not a portal. We’ll start with a brief consultation to make sure we’re a fit, then schedule an intake session to talk through your background, what you want from therapy, and how you’d like to work.
Do you take my insurance?
We work with most major insurance. Each therapist’s accepted plans are listed on their bio page. If you’re not covered, a sliding-scale cash rate is available. The fastest way to be sure is to call.
Where do sessions happen?
In person in Torrington and Farmington, or by telehealth anywhere in Connecticut. For telehealth you need to be located in Connecticut. Laura also offers telehealth for Florida residents.
What is trauma?
Trauma isn’t just a memory of something hard. It’s how that experience keeps living in your body and nervous system. It can show up as chronic tension, staying on guard, trouble feeling safe or connected, or difficulty with focus and emotion. Therapy works with all of that, not just the story.
What can I expect from therapy?
A strong working relationship, a pace you control, and skills you practice between sessions. Together we look at what’s underneath the patterns that aren’t serving you, work through what needs working through, and build new ones. Growth is messy and nonlinear. We’ll say so when it is.
Is there anything you don’t treat?
Eating disorders need medical monitoring we don’t provide in-house, so we don’t treat them on our own. We can connect you with a specialist for that piece and support the emotional side of the work alongside them.
